Back to School Cupcake Tutorial

Melissa Bastow

back to school cupcakes

It's that time of year - when kids reluctantly head back to school and moms try to make it a little more fun with cutesy treats.  To be honest, it's not my favorite time of year at all.  But cupcakes help.  A little.  And these are super easy cupcakes to make, which is a major perk in my book.

This is what you'll need:

  • 6-8 Prepared Cupcakes
  • 1 can White Frosting
  • 1 pkg. Vanilla Cream Wafer Cookies
  • 1 pkg. Bubble Yum Gum, Pink
  • 1 pkg. Wilton Chocolate Candy Melts

cupcake ingredients

Make a batch of cupcakes - they can be from scratch if you're feeling super ambitious, but no one cares if they come from a box (it's cake - it's good either way!)  Evenly cover each cupcake with the white frosting.

Melt the candy melts per package directions.  Put the melted candy into a small plastic bag and pipe short and long lines on each wafer cookie to resemble a ruler.

Take a piece of the gum and trim the ends off at an angle - this will make it look more like an eraser. You can write the word eraser on them if you have an edible writing pen, or you can keep them naked.

Put the one ruler and eraser on top of each cupcake and they're ready to go!  Super easy, super cute, super fun for back to school!  Now you'll just have to figure out what else to do with yourself while the kids are gone to school - HA, like you don't have 5 million things to do!
